She Reads: The Shack

She Reads: The Shack

Mackenzie Allen Philips had a difficult time wrestling with the existence of God and if he was good. Married to a woman with a relationship so close to God that she calls him “Papa”, Mac struggled believing that the same God she loved and believed in would allow their youngest daughter, Missy, to have such a fatal outcome. The loss of their child and a bruised childhood left Mac in a dark whirlwind of emotions for years…until he was invited to the shack.

Her Beauty: Temporary Hair Color

Her Beauty: Temporary Hair Color

Have you heard about the latest hair trend: Temporary Hair Color?! Yes, you read that right! Gone are the days of dying your hair a color you and being unsure of the results or cutting your hair to get rid of it. You can experiment with just about any color you want without the harmful effects of damaging your hair! So, how does this temporary fix work you ask?   Well, temporary hair color does not penetrate the cortex or the hair. Instead, it coats the outside of the hair shaft with color that washes out in a few shampoos.  The ability to wash it out without a lot of hassle is one of its key benefits. Although there is no chemical reaction, if the hair is damaged and porous, the color can penetrate and stain the hair. The best way to combat this minor detail is to show your natural mane some tender loving care. Temporary color is great for last-minute touch-ups before a big event or to “make do” between appointments with your stylist.

L’Oréal is one of the many brands that has a line of Liquid chalk. However, you can find several options at your local Sally’s, Target or beauty supply store.  It’s summer time ladies, the perfect time to play up your look and try out some color. Take pictures and tag us on Facebook with your colorful tresses!

“How to Conquer Your Spending Triggers Like a Champ”

Here are some examples of some triggers you may lie and tell yourself followed by advice to overcome the trigger:

•“I Deserve It” Advice: “Temporary purchases won’t give you a permanent solution or solve the underlying issue.”

•“Everyone else has one” aka “Keeping up with the Joneses. Advice: “Use the images you see on the internet as inspiration, not an indicator of what’s really going on.”

•“I’ve reached my goals; let’s celebrate!” Advice: “Wait a week after the win to celebrate, that way you can really celebrate what’s important: the next step in your life.”

•“It’s on sale!” Advice: “Don’t fall victim to marketing messages. You were getting along just fine and you can live without it!”

Most importantly, acknowledge the factors that trigger spending and how they appear in your life.
